Soft-Serve & Ice Cream Machine Repair

Soft-serve, frozen yogurt, shake, and batch ice cream machines, plus dipping cabinets and ice cream freezers, for stands, restaurants, and shops across Northeast PA.

When your soft-serve machine goes down on a hot Saturday, the line at the window doesn't wait. We repair and maintain ice cream equipment for ice cream stands, dairy bars, restaurants, fast-food spots, convenience stores, camps, and concession operations across Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne Counties.

A soft-serve machine is a refrigeration system with a freezing cylinder, beater, and mix hopper built around it. That's right in our wheelhouse.

Equipment we service

  • Soft-serve and frozen yogurt machines, countertop and floor models, single-flavor and twist, gravity-fed and pump-fed.
  • Shake and smoothie freezers.
  • Batch freezers for hard ice cream, gelato, and Italian ice.
  • Dipping cabinets, ice cream display freezers, and hardening and storage freezers.

We work on most commercial makes, including Taylor, Stoelting, Carpigiani, Electro Freeze, and Spaceman. If your machine is still under manufacturer warranty, check with the manufacturer first so you don't affect your coverage.

Common problems we fix

  • Product too soft or runny, or too stiff and freezing up in the cylinder.
  • Machine won't freeze, or the compressor runs but the cylinder stays warm.
  • Mix hopper not staying cold. Most machines are designed to hold mix at or below 41°F, the FDA Food Code limit for cold-held food.
  • Leaks at the door or drive shaft, usually from worn O-rings, seals, or gaskets.
  • Beater motor or drive problems, including squealing, grinding, or the beater not turning.
  • Error codes, “mix low” or “freeze-up” alarms, and failed heat-treatment cycles on heat-treat models.
  • Dipping cabinets or freezers that won't hold temperature or are icing up.

Before you call: check that the machine has room to breathe (air-cooled condensers need clearance), that the condenser filter or coil isn't clogged with dust, and that the mix level is above the minimum line. Snap a photo of any error code. It speeds up diagnosis.

Safety note: This is general information only, not professional advice. Only do what you can do safely: turn off and lock out power before touching equipment, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and leave anything involving electrical wiring, refrigerant, or moving parts like beaters and fans to a qualified technician. Any action you take is at your own risk — see the disclaimer.

Seasonal start-up and shutdown

A lot of ice cream stands in Northeast PA close for the winter. Machines that sit for months, or get stored in an unheated building, can come back with dried-out seals, a dirty condenser, or water-cooled lines damaged by freezing. We offer spring start-ups (inspection, cleaning the condenser, checking refrigerant operation, and a test freeze) and end-of-season shutdowns so you open on time next year. Booking your start-up early, before the first warm weekend, is the easiest way to avoid opening-day surprises.

Preventive maintenance

Most soft-serve breakdowns start small: a worn O-ring, a tune-up part that's past due, or a condenser caked with dust and grease. Follow your manufacturer's cleaning schedule and replace wear parts (O-rings, seals, scraper blades) on schedule. A yearly refrigeration check keeps the machine freezing consistently and helps you catch problems before the busy season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you repair soft-serve machines?

Yes. We repair and maintain commercial soft-serve, frozen yogurt, and shake machines, plus batch freezers, dipping cabinets, and ice cream freezers, across Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne Counties. Call or text 570-983-9747.

Why is my soft-serve too runny?

Common causes include a dirty or blocked condenser, low refrigerant, a worn beater or scraper blades, incorrect viscosity or consistency settings, warm mix in the hopper, or drawing product faster than the machine can recover. A technician can check the refrigeration side and settings.

Why is my soft-serve machine leaking?

Leaks at the door or drive shaft are usually caused by worn or missing O-rings and seals, or by parts reassembled out of place after cleaning. Leaks inside the cabinet can also come from a damaged drip tray or condensate line.

Do you do spring start-ups for ice cream stands?

Yes. We offer spring start-ups and end-of-season shutdowns for seasonal ice cream stands and dairy bars. Book before the first warm weekend to open on time.

What brands of ice cream machines do you work on?

Most commercial makes, including Taylor, Stoelting, Carpigiani, Electro Freeze, and Spaceman. If your machine is under manufacturer warranty, check with the manufacturer first.
