AC Repair & Installation in Northeast PA

Central air, ductless mini-splits, and window units — repaired, installed, and maintained for homes and businesses across Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne Counties.

When your air conditioner quits in the middle of a July heat wave, you need someone who actually picks up the phone. We repair central air conditioners, ductless mini-splits, and window units for homes and businesses throughout Northeast Pennsylvania — and we offer 24/7 emergency service when it can't wait.

Common AC problems we fix

  • AC running but not cooling — often a failed capacitor, a dirty condenser coil, an outdoor fan motor that's stopped turning, or low refrigerant from a leak.
  • Ice on the indoor coil or refrigerant lines — usually restricted airflow (a clogged filter or blocked return vents) or low refrigerant. Switch the system to "Fan" or off so it can thaw while you wait.
  • Water leaking indoors — typically a clogged condensate drain line or a cracked drain pan.
  • Short cycling — the system turns on and off every few minutes, wearing out parts and leaving the house humid.
  • Outdoor unit humming but not starting, tripped breakers, or buzzing, grinding, or squealing noises.
  • Upstairs rooms that never cool down — common in older NEPA homes with undersized ductwork or none at all on the second floor.

Safety note: This is general information only, not professional advice. Only do what you can do safely: turn off power before touching equipment, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and leave anything involving gas, electrical wiring, or refrigerant to a licensed professional. Any action you take is at your own risk — see the disclaimer.

What a repair visit looks like

  1. Call or text 570-983-9747 and describe what's happening. Many problems can be narrowed down over the phone, free.
  2. On-site diagnosis. We check electrical components, refrigerant pressures, airflow, and drainage to find the actual cause instead of guessing.
  3. A clear explanation before any work. You'll know what's wrong and what your options are — repair or replace — before we start.

AC installation and replacement

We install central air systems, ductless mini-splits, and window units. For homes heated by a boiler — common across the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area — there's no ductwork to use for central air, so a ductless mini-split is usually the cleanest way to add cooling.

A few things worth knowing if you're weighing a replacement:

  • R-22 systems: air conditioners installed before about 2010 may use R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced in the U.S. Recharging those systems keeps getting more expensive, which often tips the scale toward replacement when a major repair comes up.
  • Newer refrigerants: new residential systems now use lower-impact refrigerants such as R-454B and R-32, which require proper training and equipment to handle.
  • Sizing matters: an oversized AC short-cycles and leaves your home clammy; an undersized one runs nonstop on the hottest days. Equipment should be sized to your home, not to a guess.

AC maintenance

A spring tune-up — cleaning the condenser coil, checking refrigerant charge and electrical parts, and clearing the condensate drain — catches small problems before the first hot week of the year. Between visits, check your air filter monthly during cooling season; a clogged filter is one of the most common causes of frozen coils. Our NEPA maintenance calendar lays out what to do each season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my air conditioner be serviced?

Once a year, ideally in spring before the first hot stretch. During cooling season, check your air filter monthly and replace it when it looks dirty.

Why is my AC running but not cooling the house?

The most common causes are a clogged air filter, a dirty outdoor coil, a failed capacitor or fan motor, a refrigerant leak, or a thermostat setting. Check the filter and thermostat first. If it's still blowing warm air, turn the system off to protect the compressor and call or text us at 570-983-9747.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

It depends on the system's age, the refrigerant it uses, and the size of the repair. Systems around 15 years old or more, systems that use R-22, and systems that need repeated repairs are often better replaced. Plenty of problems are simple fixes, though — we'll give you an honest recommendation either way.

Do you work on window air conditioners?

Yes. We service window AC units along with central air systems and ductless mini-splits.

What areas do you serve for AC repair?

We serve Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne Counties, including Scranton, Dickson City, Jessup, Archbald, Carbondale, Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, and Honesdale. See all service areas.

Can you install an air conditioner I bought myself?

Yes. We install customer-supplied central air conditioners and ductless mini-splits in Lackawanna, Wayne, and Luzerne Counties. Send us the model number before you buy so we can confirm it fits your home.
